Children's Christmas Party
On December 19, 2015, the Nobles of Al Azhar Temple No. 195 and the Daughters of Al Azhar Court No. 181 came together to spread the Christmas spirit to families in the Cavalry Hill Community in the Oasis of Huntsville, Desert of Alabama. The Nobles and Daughters presented their annual Children’s Christmas Party for Children ranging from 1 to 13. This is one of several charitable events presented by Al Azhar Temple No. 195 and Al Azhar Court No. 181 for low income families in the Huntsville Community. The event included the kids participating in games, sings of Christmas carols, receiving Christmas toys and bicycles as gifts and also a visit from Santa Claus.
Many of the parents in attendance at the party expressed their gratitude for the Nobles and Daughters setting time side to bring the gift of laughter and joy to the kids. Some parents made comments that if it wasn’t for the Shriner’s Christmas Party, they may not have been able to provide their children with gifts at Christmas. Door prizes were given to adults as gifts also which added to the fun filled morning. The Nobles and Daughters of Al Azhar Temple and Court considered their goal accomplished as the event came to a close in which over 85 children in attendance receiving either a gift or a bike to take home for Christmas. As the morning came to a close, Illustrious Potentate Herman “Jerome” Glover thanked the committee chairperson, Noble Ronnie Shelby, his committee and all the Nobles and Daughters for the hard work in preparing for such a dynamic event.
